A governed, BSL-informed workspace for signing, learning and communication. It works on its own, and it works alongside The ALFI EDIE Framework when you want governance, help and shared reviews.
Settings and consent
Everything here is remembered on this device. Each permission is a separate choice, and you can change your mind at any time.
Slow it down while you are learning a phrase; speed it up once it is familiar.
Mirrors the avatar so left-handed signers see their own handshapes.
Choose calmer motion if movement is distracting, or a larger signing space if you need the handshapes to read from further away.
Zoom out for extra padding so the full hands and face stay visible on small screens, or zoom in to read fine handshapes on a large display. Your framing is remembered on this device.
Minimises cross-fades and movement accents between signs. Handshapes change instantly instead of dissolving.
Automatic measures the frame rate and steps the resolution, shadows and animation smoothing down if your device cannot keep up.
Shows the gloss with the brow, mouth-pattern and head movement that carry the grammar, in step with the avatar.
British Sign Language is the framework default. Other languages use the same avatar and gloss track; regional lexicons are added as they are validated with Deaf reviewers.
